We are looking to network jewelry artists of all kinds, primarily in and around Asheville, NC. This group will include anyone interested who creates anything related to the jewelry arts. This includes, but is not limited to beading, metal work, pmc, lapidary, dichroic glass work, lampwork beading, chain making, enameling and polymer clay work. Our idea is to create a local network encompassing both end jewelry producers as well as other artists which produce components. This network would have several functions ranging from social to finding local resources, both physical and experience/knowledge.
In May 2006, our Challenge project was to create something Medieval inspired by collaborating with other members of the group, pooling our resources and talents! Here are three of the projects brought to the meeting!
We couldn't quite decide on an exact theme, so we decided on "4 of anything"....could be 4 seasons, 4 elements, 4 winds, 4 of a kind....whatever! If you can make it to July's meeting, hope you'll consider doing the challenge...As always, challenges are voluntary
At our first meeting, it was suggested that we have some sort of design challenge to prepare for the March meeting. A mermaid theme was chosen. Take a look at our first challenge results here! More will be added if/when they come in.
We have started a yahoo group Jewelryartistguild for those interested.
